Caring for your resin treasures
At Perfectly Imperfect, we craft unique epoxy resin items with love and care. To ensure your pieces remain beautiful for years to come, follow these simple guidelines for proper maintenance and protection.
General cleaning tips
- Dry Dusting: Avoid rough materials like paper towels, which can scratch painted details. Use a soft makeup brush to lightly sweep dust away from intricate crevices, or a dry microfiber cloth on flat, smooth surfaces.
- Compressed Air: You can use a can of compressed air or a hairdryer on the "cool" setting to blow away dust. Keep the source several inches away to avoid freezing or damaging delicate, painted surfaces.
- Sticky Residue: If the statue is sticky (sometimes caused by plasticizers or nicotine), soak it briefly in a tub of warm, soapy water. Gently rub the surface with a soft toothbrush and then rinse it clean.
Epoxy resin is durable, but not indestructible. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures, which can cause yellowing or warping. Do not place hot items directly on resin surfaces without protection. While resin is scratch-resistant, it can still be scratched by sharp objects, so handle with care. For coasters and placemats, use felt pads on the bottom to prevent scratching furniture surfaces.
Protecting your resin from damage
Long-term maintenance
Over time, you may wish to refresh the shine of your resin items. A small amount of mineral oil applied with a soft cloth can restore luster. For deeper scratches or a dull finish, specialized resin polishing compounds are available. Store your resin pieces away from direct heat and light when not in use to prolong their lifespan and maintain their original beauty. With a little care, your Perfectly Imperfect creations will bring joy for years.
